Hello, Hope someone can help us please? Bought a 2011 plate Vauxhall Meriva a few weeks ago, and the other day the "yellow car with a spanner" symbol appeared on our way home after we pulled into a supermarket for a shop. It disappeared again when we set off. Having googled it, it seems this is an inbuilt Vauxhall twerk to inform you a service is due (due soon), yet this car was fully serviced before we picked it up. Garage said to drop it off Monday morning to try and reset it (even though I'll be well late for work!), but also said it's either a simple job, or could be more complicated depending on what codes their code reader picks up. Has anyone else had this symbol please? is it an easy fix and is it just a "service soon" warning or the possibility of something more serious? We tried to clear it using the manual (that's not for our specific model!) and ended up resetting the mileage trip meter and now have the "1 Unit Set" code message showing. Wish we hadn't have played with it now Lot's of videos on Youtube how to get fault codes from a Vauxhall by pressing both brake and accelerator then inserting key into ignition - but these codes would mean nothing to us! I would try an reset the symbol myself - even though it disappeared when we drove off - but what if it hints at something more serious? Seems daft having a light to remind you to service your car soon. Do you think it's pure coincidence this light came on 2 weeks after we bought the car as the mileage has now triggered the warning light (nearly 36k), or have we been sold a duff motor? Derek, the alarm has a battery back up. I'm wondering if while the main battery was off, the back up battery drained itself. No idea where it's located, but it might just be a case of waiting for it to recharge itself from the main battery. I take it you've tried disconnecting and reconnecting the main car battery again to see if it'll reset itself? The back-up battery could be drained slightly but I disabled the sounder as per the handbook. I think the power sounder is in the wheel-arch behind a panel. I haven't tried the battery again - it could be that the reconnection wasn't "clean" and that caused the fault. I'll have a word with a Vauxhall technician I have now found and report back. My old Vectra B did, well according to the manual it did, but I never saw it come on in the 3+ years of think the power sounder is in the wheel-arch behind a panel. Yep, front nearside wheel-arch, but is the battery incorperated in the sounder, or is it in a separate location?I haven't tried the battery again - it could be that the reconnection wasn't "clean" and that caused the fault. Ex-Vauxhall technician reckons on a TECH 2 reset if there is no problem with any sensor, but he did tell me to check the bonnet switch. Local Vauxhall dealer reckons that there is no need to reset the alarm after a battery removal. Will try the battery re-connect this weekend. I would expect that there would be no need to reset but .... I had a quick check of the bonnet switch whilst I armed the alarm - closing any open door should cause the LED to go constant whilst arming - but no luck. I even unplugged the bonnet switch just in case but that didn't help either! Answer to the second question. Yes it seems to work - I unlocked the driver's door with the key and opened the door causing the main sounder to go off. I haven't checked the other doors / ultrasonics yet. I need the light to be able to check the car over so a job for Saturday after its wash. I tried a few times with various attempts at locking and unlocking to see if that helped. All switches are OK - so back to main dealer I reckon!

#1 Alright dudes One of the birds in work has a '54 Corsa and the INSP light comes on every time she starts it. She has had a quote from Vauxhall to do a service including new plugs for £250 and they will extinguish the light at the same time. Now, I have never paid for a service in my life but I think £250 sounds a bit steep and she'd be better off going to an indy. But she's a woman and the most important thing to her is getting the light sorted out Any way of manually resetting this? Or is it doable with a pretty standard reader/comm port that most garages will have? I have the same thing. New unused CIM UY (13204146). It does not have EEPROM 93lc76 on it, EEPROM type is different, I'll write it later, can't remeber which one is it. I swapped eeprom from old CIM (UY), car started, everything works except steering angle calibration. Everytime I try it says calibration error. Also, there's a constant error in SAS communication. Hi, I'm having a bit of a do with my 2003 Vauxhall Vectra..... First of all a light came on and in the manual it says its to warn me the brake pads are wearing thin. Had it in the garage (well 2 but thats a whole other story!!) and they told me brake pads are all OK had all the wheels off and had a look. They're going to have it in again for an ECU?? Whats that?? Then....when it was peeing it down the other day I went out in the car and went thru several very large and fairly deep puddles (nothing unusual in that have done before with no probs) got in the car again later and a little light that usually lights up and goes away again on start-up stayed lit up. In the manual it says something to do with exhaust gases and the emissions?? The exhaust is also kind of making a chugging noise. Engine running fine took it for a run and exceleration as normal just the exhaust seems a bit funny. Its in the garage tomorrow for this ECU but anyone got any ideas do I need to prepare myself for a large bill :eek: Cheers Remember ....its not a bargain unless you need it
